Dairy - Ivy House Dairy Farm - Beckington
Founded in 1982 by husband and wife team Geoff and Kim Bowles, Ivy House Farm in Beckington is now home to over 120 cows. Cream is potted up and delivered within 24 hours of being separated. The milk even quicker. And the butter is hand made, hand patted and hand wrapped. In other words, it doesn’t get any fresher.
Fruit and Vegetables - Plotgate CSA - Somerton
Plotgate is a community-supported agriculture project, managed as a cooperative and led by growers Jane, Amy, Dan and Damon.
Their mission is to produce the highest quality, hand-grown veg using methods “that are truly sustainable, with a spirit of low-carbon innovation”. They deliver on the same day they harvest, they only grow what is in season and they never use synthetic chemicals or fertilisers.
Ultimately, they do things the right way.
Cider - Burrow Hill Cider - Martock
Julian Temperley and Tim Stoddart are charged with the responsibility of perfecting the blend of the 40 varieties of apples that fall during harvest.
Winner of the national cider championships in Devon, Somerset and Hereford (in the same year), they have benefited from two centuries worth of cider pressing using the 180 acres of cider apple orchards at the base of Burrow Hill.
This is traditional cider, made by the masters of traditional cider.
